About Jenny

After an extensive search process, the San Antonio Tennis Association is pleased to announce that Jenny Mainz has been selected as Executive Director, beginning May 28, 2024!

Jenny is a leader with three decades of experience as a collegiate coach. Mainz coached at Florida State and Iowa prior to serving as the head women’s tennis coach at the University of Alabama for 26 years.  Named National coach of the year, three-time SEC coach of the year, two-time national champion, the longest-tenured Women's Tennis Coach at the University of Alabama, and the second longest-tenured women’s tennis coach in the SEC, Jenny’s strong leadership skills, work ethic, and passion for tennis have distinguished her as a nationally recognized leader in the tennis community.

Jenny is a level above in her experience and leadership, as evident in her accolade," said Becki Wortham, SATA's Interim Board President. "Her dedication to a lifelong tennis career, in so many capacities, speaks for itself.  She is the whole package in service to the community and will raise SATA to new levels. "

Mainz also has a lengthy history of service. At the University of Alabama, her athletes partnered with various organizations to effect positive changes in their community. Her team partnered with Habitat for Humanity, participated in the athletic department's Extravaganza for local youth, and supported the Project Angel Tree event, in which student-athletes helped in ensuring that children of incarcerated parents were provided gifts each holiday season.

Mainz has served on the ITA's Operating Committee, including a stint as Associate Chair. She also served as the chairperson for the ITA's South Region for three years and assumed the same role for the newly formed Southern Region in 2010. In 2014, she was selected as a member of the ITA Board of Directors. We are confident that under her leadership, SATA’s success and impact in achieving its mission and vision will continue to flourish.

I'm thrilled to be the next Executive Director of the San Antonio Tennis Association. It's full circle for me coming back home to San Antonio. It's a privilege and honor to give back to a community that has given me so much and afforded me so many amazing opportunities. I'm looking forward to working with SATA and the San Antonio community to continue growing tennis."

Please join us in welcoming Jenny as Executive Director by sending your congratulations to SATA’s Facebook or Instagram, volunteering for an event, or donating to our programs.

As SATA begins its next chapter, there is much to be excited about as we continue innovating, strategizing, and increasing our reach in the community.

We thank you all for your continued support and partnership as we welcome Jenny into her new role. May we continue growing the game of tennis together!
