WOMEN'S FALL LEAGUES

FAQ:

What is the format of the fall league?
The Women’s Fall League will be a SATA sponsored, non USTA league. The league format will be identical to the USTA league format with 2 lines of singles and 3 lines of doubles. The league will include both SAWSTT and SAWTA, playing on Saturday and Monday respectively.

What ratings will be used?
Players will register for teams using their 2011 year-end ratings. Non USTA members are eligible to play, however they must follow USTA NTRP rating guidelines.

Will play in this league affect my USTA rating?
No. Scores will not be entered in Tennis Link, therefore ratings will not be affected.

How will scores be entered?
Scores will be entered through a management system that looks much like Tennis Link and should be very easy to use.  More information will be provided on the SATA website.

What rules will be used?
USTA Texas section and SATA local rules will apply, the same as they have in the past. Grievances (including ratings grievances) will be handled by the procedure established and currently in place.

Who will supply the balls?
Teams will supply their own balls, with the home team responsible for providing balls for the match

How much will it cost?
Cost to register will be $17 per player

How do I register a team?
Teams will not be issued a team number, but will register by team name. Procedure for requesting registration will be the same as it has been in the past. Team registration will be requested on the SATA website.

Is there advancement for winners?
The winning teams from each level on Monday and Saturday will advance to an invitational tournament held in January. The format of this weekend tournament will be similar to Little State. Because this is an advancing league all matches must be completed.

Will this league be "competitive"?
As winners of this league will advance to post-season play, this league will be competitive. Remember, what makes a league "competitive" is what you bring to the court!

Will this format be used for Spring?
No. Spring 2013 will remain a USTA league with winners advancing to sectionals.

Why aren’t the men using this format?
The men’s leagues traditionally have a playoff between their fall league winners and spring league winners to earn a berth into USTA sectionals; therefore, since their fall league and spring league have an equal chance to advance to sectionals they must play in a USTA sanctioned league.

Where do I find more information on the fall league?
Information will be provided to team captains for distribution to their players and will also be available on the SATA website under Women’s Fall Leagues, found on the navigation bar.
