The qualifying tournament this weekend will closely follow the format our winners will be playing at the championships in Houston.
Match Play
All matches will be a total of 16 games. Players will play eight games then change sides of the net one time. Partners may not change service return sides. Scoring will be no-ad. Match scores could be 16-0, 14-2, or 8-8, etc. We will not play a tie breaker at 8 all (with exception of playoffs). A two minute water break may be taken after every 4 games. A total of (3) times per match.
Advancement
Flight winners will be determined by the highest total number of games (a running total for your flight will be calculated).
Ties will be handled in order as follows:
1. Total games won.
2. Head to head record.
3. If there is a 3 way tie (or more), a round robin of 12 point tie breaks will be played (first to 7 points and win by 2). If a tie remains, the winner will be determined by highest total number of points won in the tie breaks
Single Flight—Top three teams will advance to Houston.
Two Flights—Number one teams from each flight advance; Number two teams in each flight playoff as set in the schedule. The 16 game format will be played for playoffs with a tie break at 8-8 (12 point tiebreak will be played; first to 7, win by 2)
